We are pretty familiar with dumplings and pot stickers, but what do you know about “bao?” Pronounced bou (wow with a b), short for baozi is steamed bun stuffed with all sorts of wonderful veggies and meat fillings. Dumpling Haus serve a large variety of dumplings, pot stickers, wonton, bao, noodle bowls, steam buns and sweets. What they don’t serve are German dumplings. You would think with “Haus” in the name they would be serving up potato dumplings and bread balls. They don’t. But they do a great job of bringing delicious authentic traditional Chinese bao to Madison.
The different types of dumplings creates such an awesome experience. You get to see the multiple forms they come in and also taste the variety. It might be just me, but I love the ones that are wrapped up like little presents (Haus Bao). It creates a urge to get into the surprise in side.
If you’re over at Hilldale Mall, be sure to explore the various dumplings Dumpling Haus have to offer. I recommend trying a bao, experience the difference and a true tradition. These tasty tidbits can fill you up quicker than you’d expect so be careful on how many you order.
